Simon Murphy is a songwriter from Randalstown. Having recently shared the stage with Grammy award winner Don Henry at Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival, he releases his debut album, ‘Let it be’ on 27th August. Simon has enlisted the considerable talents of Kaz Hawkins on vocals, Linley Hamilton on trumpet and Anthony Toner on guitar who all guest on the album.

Paul Kane from the Oh Yeah Centre will host the evening. Simon’s Album will be available to buy on the night. He will play a two set show on the night. In the first half he will play an acoustic set, followed by a short intermission to finish with a full band.

Simon says

“Writing songs is easy. Writing good songs; important songs, that’s trickier. I’m trying to write the songs I want to hear on the radio. I figure if I aim for the head, heart and the gut and reach anyone on any of these levels, I’ll be ok.”

Ralph McLean, BBC Radio Ulster says

” Simon has real talent. A real song writing strength. I like him a lot”

Simon will also play the main stage at Lakefest festival in the summer along with Ash, Billy Bragg and The Magic Numbers.

This is Simon’s first headline show in Belfast. Not one to be missed.

The event will be filmed by Paul McParland from Mojo Films.
